November 15: School Board Members Day
Today, November 15, is about saying Thank You to the District 19 School Board.
Our board members spend multiple hours each month on district work, attending
meetings, and other responsibilities. Our board members act as front-line advocates providing a local voice for the community, a vision for the district, and a pathway to success for our students.
We thank our District 19 Board of Education members for their service to the district and our students.

LOOKING FOR A-H VOLUNTEERS!
Our next stewardship day on the Hackmatack National Wildlife Refuge is this Sunday, November 19th from 9 to Noon at the Tryon Grove site, the newest site on the Hackmatack Refuge.
Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty, and please bring your own drinking water. Protective clothing such as long pants (not leggings) are recommended. We’ll have hand tools, work gloves, safety glasses, and a few snacks.
The Tryon Grove site is on the north side of Tryon Grove Road, 1.5 miles west of the intersection with Routes 12 and 31. The address is 7008 E Tryon Grove Rd, Richmond, IL. If you are familiar with our Tamarack West site, the Tryon Grove site is across the road and a bit further west (and on the north side of Tryon Grove Road). There is plenty of room for parking after you pull into the site; be careful when entering and exiting the site (oncoming traffic may be shielded from view).
If you are under age 18 , you will need a parent or guardian to sign the attached form indicating that you are authorized to attend; you can bring the signed form to the workday. (You do not need to sign, just your parent/guardian.) Note that some parts of this form are left blank. Take particular care to ensure your parent or guardian completes the contact information, parental consent section, emergency contact section and signs it. The sections to be completed are 1-19 and 28-36. Volunteer Form: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1S7XEkIbtEdIg30yGkZXGdvMRXlJeZKofyE6HH-A8ORU/edit?usp=sharing

Every Kid Outdoors Program Provides Fourth Grade Students with Free Entrance to Public Lands!
Fourth-grade students can get a free annual pass to visit more than 2,000 federal recreation areas with their families, classmates, and friends. The Every Kid Outdoors Program is an interagency collaboration between the Department of the Interior, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and U.S. Forest Service that provides fourth graders with free access to explore, learn, and recreate in spectacular settings, including national parks, wildlife refuges, marine sanctuaries, and forests.
To obtain the free pass, fourth-grade students visit the Every Kid Outdoors website, participate in a short educational activity, and download a voucher. The voucher is valid for multiple use between Sept. 1, 2019 and Aug. 31, 2020 to correspond to the traditional school year. The voucher may be exchanged for a keepsake pass at participating federal lands.
The voucher or pass grants free entry for fourth graders, all children under 16 in the group and up to three accompanying adults (or an entire car for drive-in parks) to most federally managed lands and waters. The pass does not cover expanded amenity fees such as camping or boat rides.
There are seven federal agencies participating in the Every Kid Outdoors Program. You can search for participating lands and waters (by agency) through the links below:
