BIG Futures Program is a brand new mentoring program for individuals ages 16 to 24 with a focus on college and career readiness, as well as necessary life skills and support in individualized interest areas.
The BIG Futures program is a program specifically for students facing adversity, who would benefit from a strategically matched 1:1 mentoring relationship with a successful adult from the McHenry County community.

Position: Agriculture Teacher & FFA Advisor
District 19 is excited to start an agricultural program thanks to the strong support from our Board, community, students, and local businesses and farmers. We are looking for a teacher interested in collaborating with the administration and building a program from the ground up. The staff member will also serve as the FFA Sponsor.
The courses that will be offered for the 2023-2024 school year are; Introduction to Agriculture, Agricultural Business, Food Science, Basic Agriculture Mechanics, Workplace experience, and a science class. (Depending on certification)

A-H HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS VISIT SCOT FORGE
On Wednesday, AH High School students toured Scot Forge in Spring Grove, IL. Students took a tour and learned more about career opportunities and about the company's Job Shadowing, Paid Student Learner, and the Paid Internship Program.
If you are a high school student (16+) interested in manufacturing please see academic advisor, Mr. VanderPal. Scot Forge's student learner program is the perfect opportunity to explore manufacturing- providing students with the opportunity to learn valuable skills in manufacturing while working in a professional, modern production facility.
Scot Forge has been an industry leader in open die and rolled ring forging. Interesting facts: Scot Forge creates rocket bulkheads and engine-attach rings on a jet aircrafts, the wheels of NASA's Curiosity Mars Rover, mission critical components for nuclear submarines, and much more.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY this Sunday, January 8th, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Hello Again Friends of Hackmatack Volunteers,
Our next ecological stewardship day will be this Sunday, January 8th from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Tamarack West site located on the south side of Tryon Grove Road 1.2 miles west of the intersection of Routes 12 and 31.
We again can use your help hauling cut wood to the brush piles, and if weather permits we may be burning some of the piles. We are hopeful that we will have a number of students from the Alden-Hebron High School. We invite everyone to come help build the refuge by cutting some brush or hauling a few branches to the pile. We need your help!

For those who have not been out to the current work area, it is just south from the parking area. There is an old two-track roadway, you can follow that down to the noise! If you see a clipboard by my silver Prius be sure to sign in (or you can just give me your waiver form if you are under 18), and grab some gloves, safety glasses and tools as you walk past my silver Prius. I leave the gloves etc. on the ground behind my car. Wear clothes and shoes that can get dirty, and please bring your own drinking water. We’ll have hand tools, work gloves, safety glasses, and some snacks.
For those who may be attending who are under age 18, you will need a parent or guardian to sign the form emailed to HS students indicating that you are authorized to attend; you can bring it to the workday. (You do not need to sign, just your parent/guardian.)
